Revithoussa Small Scale LNG Infrastructure

Sofregaz Leading FEED Design in Greece
- Project Name : Revithoussa LNG terminal
- Country : Greece
- Project Site Location : Revithoussa Island
- Name of Client : DESFA
- Project Type : FEED
- Completion Date : 2019
The project includes the construction of a dedicated LNG terminal capable of managing small-scale operations, which is crucial for facilitating LNG bunkering and supporting local industries.
In partnership with Asprofos Engineering, Sofregaz led the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of this project, ensuring that the infrastructure meets both technical and safety standards. Sofregaz’s expertise in LNG terminal design was instrumental in addressing key challenges, such as:
- Process design for efficient LNG handling,
- Technology selection to ensure cost-effective and sustainable solutions,
- Safety system integration to protect the infrastructure and meet international standards.
This project is designed to support small-scale LNG carriers with capacities between 1,000 m³ and 20,000 m³, making it an essential part of Greece’s strategy to diversify its LNG import capabilities. By developing small-scale infrastructure, the terminal can handle both smaller shipments for local industries and LNG bunkering for ships, ensuring flexibility in supply and distribution.
Technology and Safety
Integration Sofregaz, in collaboration with Asprofos Engineering, oversaw the technology selection process, choosing the most suitable equipment and systems to meet the project’s operational needs. The team also focused on the development of advanced safety systems, ensuring compliance with stringent international safety regulations and safeguarding both personnel and assets.
Seamless Transition to the EPC Phase
The FEED study conducted by Sofregaz and Asprofos laid a solid foundation for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phase. With a clear roadmap and minimized technical uncertainties, the project is set for a smooth transition into the construction phase, ensuring timely delivery and operational readiness.
